Impact

Ghosts Worth Chasing is a recognized 501(c)(3) public charity. What follows is an honest account of where the organization stands at the start of its first operational year.

Current Status

In February 2026, the IRS granted Ghosts Worth Chasing 501(c)(3) public charity status under Section 509(a)(1). The organization is listed on IRS Publication 78 and is authorized to receive tax-deductible contributions effective immediately.

The foundation is now in active operational buildout. Current priorities include:

  • Completing board composition and governance documentation
  • Finalizing grantmaking criteria, application processes, and review cycles
  • Establishing financial management and investment policy frameworks
  • Preparing for first grant cycle, anticipated in late 2026

No grants have been awarded to date. Donations are open. The organization is independently verified through IRS Publication 78, Candid, and ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer.

Operational Commitments

The following principles govern how this organization will conduct itself once grantmaking is underway. They are stated here as commitments, not aspirations.

  • Transparency — Financial statements and complete grant lists will be published annually without omission
  • Restraint — The organization will not grow faster than it can govern with care
  • Honesty — Impact will be reported factually. Outcomes that are uncertain will be described as such
  • Continuity — Governance is structured for multi-decade operation, independent of any single individual

Annual reports will be published each January covering the prior calendar year. They will include audited financials, a complete grant list, and a candid operational reflection. They will not include testimonials, success narratives, or promotional content. The first report is expected in January 2027.
